It's our first snow of the year. We were home today going over paint and other stuff for the house with our interior designer, Natascha. Marin went to school & Jack was home with ba Que, like they usually do. I felt bad being home and not allowing Jack to be with us while we were working. Most of all, I felt bad because I didn't have time to take him outside to see and feel the snow; it would have been his first experience ever.
He was under the weather anyway, with his constant congestions... mostly from the viruses I bring home from the office & Marin from school. But, he also has a little environmental allergies (dust?). Compared to Marin he's more susceptible to having allergies. Since he was little he has to take Similac Alimentum, a special formula for infants with allergies. He would have severe eczema on his face with regular formulas. He breastfed until about 4 months because Me.'s breastmilk slowed down, so he continued on the formula. He also had bad GERD, with discomfort and crying in pain almost every evening. So, he was started on Zantac, but that didn't help; then he was switched to Prevacid until 6'ish months. When solids was begun, we slowly switched him back to Zantac, less potent than Prevacid. I'm not sure if we're maintaining his reflux as well as we could. Often I see him still regurgitate or try to burp up what he's eaten or drank. Chronic congestions is also due poor-controlled reflux. So, it's a mixed bag what the cause(s) could be... this is clearly manifested by persistence in symptoms despite after a 1o-day course of a very broad-spectrum antibiotic.
Jack is 9 1/2 months old.... he's already taken a few steps and becoming more confident at it. The most I've counted was 5 steps today. It's so cute to see him stand at the window, which sits less than 2 feet from the ground, looking out at passerby. The best feeling is coming home from work, pulling up the driveway and looking up to see him standing at the window knocking through the glass excited to see you coming home. Marin used to do that a lot when she was little.
Having shorter daylights in the Winter is hard for Marin. She misses going outside to ride her tricycle. She wants to go over and play at Aidan's house everyday. Yesterday, she decided to call co Hoa's phone. She would ask me to help her dial the phone number. Aidan finally got on the phone and Marin said, "Aidan, you wanna come over and take a bath with me?"... Aidan I guess said 'yes' and asked him Mom.. but it was getting late so his mom didn't let him. Then, Marin said, "I'll come over your house right now. Where's Abby?"... I guess Aidan turned to his mom and asked but once again said 'no', cause it was too late. Luckily, both of the kids took it fine. Marin, then, called co Loan, but she wasn't at home. If it were up to Marin, she would be out-and-about all the time and never be home. We're just glad she's independent, outgoing and comfortable with others without us.
